San Diego, California, November 9, 2009 — Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation, a leading supplier of high-performance RF CMOS and mixed-signal communications ICs, announced today that it was the recipient of a 2009 TechAmerica ‘High Tech’ Award. In its sixteenth year, the annual event commemorates excellence in the region’s technology industry, and honors outstanding companies for their technological or business innovation; exceptional products or service; product marketplace validation; perseverance in the face of adversity; and community involvement. Peregrine’s revolutionary UltraCMOS™ semiconductor process technology was chosen for the top award among four finalists in the Semiconductor, Industrial and Analytical Instrumentation category, which was juried by a group of highly recognized and respected southern California luminaries.
“Given Peregrine’s sheer tenacity and diligence in bringing its revolutionary technology to the global marketplace, it’s no surprise to see the company take home an Award this year,” commented Kevin Carroll, regional director, TechAmerica San Diego. “Additionally, Peregrine’s commitment to the San Diego community is commendable.”
During the TechAmerica Awards banquet, held at the Hyatt Aventine in La Jolla, a High Tech Award was given in each of nine categories including Internet/Web Commerce; Computers and Related Products; Communications Products and Services; Clean Technology; Defense/IT Services; Semiconductor, Industrial and Analytical Instrumentation; Medical Device Technology/Instrumentation; and Outstanding Emerging Growth. Numerous nominations from companies of all sizes within the San Diego technology community were submitted for consideration; 38 were finalists.
“We recently shipped our 500 millionth RF integrated circuit into the global marketplace, which is a huge milestone and testament to the footprint we are making in the industry,” commented Ron Reedy, CTO and co-founder of Peregrine. “It is with great pleasure and appreciation we accept not only this Award but also the support that has been given to Peregrine by the San Diego community since its inception. We intend to keep making our community proud,” he concluded.
The 2009 TechAmerica High Tech Awards are sponsored through generous support by Barney & Barney, CBRE, Deloitte, Formula, Procopio, Silicon Valley Bank, SMS Technologies, TLC Staffing and United Healthcare.
About Environmentally-friendly UltraCMOS™ Technology
UltraCMOS™ mixed-signal process technology is a patented variation of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology on a sapphire substrate providing with high yields and competitive costs. This technology delivers significant performance advantages over competing processes such as GaAs, SiGe BiCMOS and bulk silicon CMOS in applications where RF performance, low power and high levels of integration are paramount. The Company’s revolutionary HaRP™ technology further exploits the fundamental benefits of silicon-on-sapphire, enabling dramatic improvements in harmonic results, linearity and overall RF performance which today remain unmatched by any other RF process technology.
